Suddenly I remembered that I was in a country threatening to launch nuclear warheads against its neighbours

Even when writing about weed, the LIB can't help themselves regurgitating their propaganda.

oh yeah for sure, I still found it a neat article and wanted to share. We get precious little anecdotal experiences from westerners in the DPRK and this one was actually pretty wholesome in spite of the lib paranoia.

Yeah the article was absolutely a good read despite that, you don't hear about DPRK's markets and actual weed very often. Thanks for the share!

As we arrived, two Korean girls in make-up and high heels were struggling to carry a sports bag, heavy with banknotes, to the back of a waiting taxi.

I'm not sure why but I love this mental image. It clashes so much with the Western idea of North Korea.

I wanna go to DPRK even more now.

I actually have something to offer them lol. I have generations of cannabis cultivation knowledge to draw on.

The update is the important part. It seems that cannabis is a common plant in the DPRK, but the uses are generally not for smoking, the intensity is not high, and weed is still illegal. It reminds me a little of coca leaves.
