There was a guy who got sent to one of those places in an online community I used to chat in during my college years. He went from being a fairly normal kid who acted out to a total recluse who couldn't leave his room even years afterwards. The only way he could sleep afterwards was laying on the floor of his closet under a quilt because of whatever happened. He talked a bit about how they were starved and beaten but I suspect there was more he still couldn't talk about. I lost touch with all those people over the years but I hope he's still out there and he's doing better.
