Bolsonaro's plan was always a military dictatorship, he never hid this intent. He only pretended to be democratic around 2018, while praising the 64 dictatorship and saying they (him+his supporters) would have their opponents shot. He wants to be a dictator, period.
In the last month or so, (1) Lula's candidacy for 22 became a possibility and pretty much every poll already shows Lula (and others) winning against him, (2) his popularity is melting due to covid, (3) his is losing his political capital quickly, with the congress and supreme court clearly out to get him, fueled by, among many things, the fact that bolsonarist judges and cops have been persecuting any person that criticizes the government, including politicians that are way up there in the government.
The happenings of today and yesterday are a bit foggy still, but a military cop opened fire against his colleagues because they were enforcing the lockdown, and he was killed because of it. Now, bolsonaro's ghouls are trying to make a martyr out of him and trying to rile up other cops. Today, he fired 6 different ministers, including the minister of defense, who mentioned, after getting fired, he tried to keep the army subject to the state (or something like that). The talks right now are that bolsonaro is trying to get the heads of the army out so he can put someone who obeys him in their place.
On top of all that, tomorrow (or two days from now?) marks the anniversary of the military coup of 64, and bolsonaro plans on an event to celebrate it.
This is worrying to hear, but if he is losing political capital, that means he's not gonna have enough support to go through with it all the way, surely? Any resources or other public forums where this is being discussed? I'm very worried now.
I think this is why he is trying to change the heads of the armed forces. If he has the cops and part of the armed forces with him, he doesn't really need the congress anymore. I just hope a more intelligent monster (like his vice-president) doesn't take advantage of his possibly-to-fail attempt to justify a successful one.
I'm only getting the news from r/brasil and I don't have other social media, so I don't know anywhere else.
Edit: oh, I forgot to mention there's speculation that his most fascist son is involved in organizing the capitol uprising. Let's hope it goes the same way... Although that one didn't have the armed forces involved
The population of any country is famous for their lack of balls to get themselves killed going against a fucking army IF they at least have what to eat.

At the same time, if he's losing political capital he has no reason not to go for broke.
