I actually did something similar when I was fairly young. It is definitely garbage lol. If you do decide to read it, I’d really recommend you get an annotated version. I don’t remember which one I used but I switched partway through because Hitler’s writing is actively uninformative, especially if you don’t know exactly what random weimar republic era controversy he’s whining about. It’s pretty analogous to modern reactionary rhetoric tbh.

Hey now, let’s not get too hasty! As reasonable centrists, I think we can all agree that the FDA testing for asbestos in baby powder is 💯 comparable to the 3-letter agencies committing war crimes and immiserating the global south. /s

It is very funny that they’re using the labour of random public sector employees to launder the reputation of ghouls that have meaningful political power.

  • I have ADHD and cycle through phases of hyper fixation pretty quickly. The algorithm you’re describing might be built for people like me (sorry!).

I find that my algorithm tends to recommend videos based almost exclusively on content from about 3 of my most recent fixations. I can usually change it up pretty quickly though. I think the trick is having a fairly robust set of playlists that I revert to whenever the algorithm fails me. This might provide some more insight to help train the algorithm, though it probably depends on a bunch of other factors.

Whenever showing me content similar to my most recent views doesn’t work, the algorithm usually just defaults to showing me cat videos. Which I’m pretty pleased with, cat videos are easily the best thing on that site.

  • Sorry for the late reply (and for giving anonymous medical advice over the internet) but have you tried using some oil to soften up any wax? I have relatives that are very prone to severe wax buildup and it’s been fairly effective for them as both an acute treatment and as a preventative one. In any case, I hope you figure it out and get better soon!

  • That’s a fair point!

I think it could be the -ese at the end. “A chinese” has the same weird vibe whereas “a korean” sounds better, so I don’t think it’s (necessarily) the history of bigotry against East Asians that makes it sound off.

To me, the -ese ending kinda implies that the speaker is referencing a group. Words ending in -ese seem to lean more plural by default and using them to refer to singular individuals feels off, at least in my opinion. English is a very strange language though and I could very easily be wrong.

  • They think they’re the smartest people in the room for recognizing an obvious political stunt when they’re actually dumb as fuck for thinking it’ll work.

If they can see it, everyone else can too, including the undecided conservatives they’re trying to persuade. The people who vote for presidential candidates based solely on how racist they are to migrants are still going to vote trump and they’ll love however trump chooses to respond. Biden is just throwing away immigrant votes and setting himself up to be dunked on because he’s a white reactionary who wants other white reactionaries to love him.

Not to mention how obviously inhumane it is. It’s not that leftists are too stupid to understand what biden is trying to do, they just oppose it because they have principles and a basic understanding of reality.
