  • I would argue that neoliberalism and fascism are the same kind of thing, just a different scale. Neoliberalism IS fascism, just fascism-lite.

The word “privatization” was invented to describe fascist economic policies carried out by Nazis.

What is neoliberalism after all? It’s corporate dominated rule & imperialism, with a strong military state to implement policies friendly to the bourgeoise and protect the upper classes. Neoliberals and fascists both want small government (in terms of social programs) with huge military states (tons of cops, tons of prisons, tons of public-private military, corruption).

We see this with Pinochet, with Suharto, their ties with Saudis/jihadis, with Yeltsin. The neoliberal looters and comprador governments are fascist. There is no qualitative difference between the two things except the intensity, and the intensity is determined by the current conditions. Neoliberals are just fascists on a day with good weather.

So not only did neoliberal rule prepare the west for fascism, the west was always fascist but able to suppress its worst tendencies by exporting them abroad via imperialism.
