  • I mean, Temu, Shein, and gacha games suck, there's no doubt about that. Could China be doing a lot more to reign them in? Absolutely. But I'd argue that even if we're just focusing on companies making a profit, a Chinese century IS better than the current state of affairs.

For one, as crappy as those companies are, they're not a monopoly and aren't likely to become monopolies anytime soon because China has an anti-monopoly law.

Secondly, Elon Musk has threatened to coup Bolivia (and "whoever we want! Deal with it!") over lithium, and while he is just one example, many western companies have couped or otherwise coerced/destabilised other countries to protect their profitability, and they're continuing to get away with it scot-free. Coca Cola's death squads in Colombia is another example that comes to mind. None of China's companies, as far as I know, have couped or coerced/destablised a country for business interests. I'd say that alone makes for a more peaceful 100 years.

Thirdly, as @SmokinStalin@hexbear.net mentioned, Chinese billionaires have been executed for doing things that go against the public good, whereas billionaires get total impunity in the west, regardless of how much their actions harm the general population. The billionaire class is also accountable to the government, rather than the government being influenced by wealthy donors like we have in much of the west (and other neoliberal countries).

Of course, China can always do better. But I'd be hard-pressed to find how things can get worse (or even make no improvement) under a Chinese century compared to a continuation of what we currently have.

  • Ain't gonna lie, after seeing all that crap blaming minorities for Trump being elected, I want every crakkker, lib or chud, to bow down to EVERY minority in this fucking universe before we chuck em in the pit when revolution comes. And when I say bow, I mean forehead touching the floor, kissing the feet of everyone they blamed, and then some. They've been smug and arrogant about shit they know nothing about for waaay too long and it's about time somebody put them in their place.

They're gonna be bowing for hours like that concentration camp guard being forced to play the piano before barbara-pit

  • Wait, ADHD is legally recognised as a disability where you're at? This is the first time I've heard of it as such, which is... interesting. I have AuDHD and out of the two, I have struggled with accepting the autism part because while many of the symptoms of ADHD can be managed with the right meds for most people, there isn't really a "quick fix" for autism. Up until then, I never considered myself disabled either.

I'll have to read up on the social model of disability because I've got a lot of ableist brain worms wriggling around. Do you have any recommendations? Also, I'm glad (and rather hopeful) that it has helped you be easier on yourself because that's where I struggle with the most.

  • Looks like the Americans are throwing satellites at their own people again. How often has this happened? It's almost as if they are made from burger crumbs. Welp, I guess that's just what happens in authoritarian regimes where the people don't even know they're oppressed. Maybe if they vote harder, they'll finally have access to quality engineering...

But seriously though, fuck Boeing. Everything they touch turns to crap.
