Finally, one thing I have over that notorious owl!
That and bladder control.
The problem with user bios is they reveal how vapid and uncreative I am.
Consider myself cishet for context, but the anonymous They is comfy in online settings.

It's only been a few days since things kind of started, but I like to think that we've been trying to put in the effort to keep up communication. Besides that, it is wild what this has done to my brain. I feel like a teenager again, which makes some sense as I haven't been in any sort of relationship since then, but it's still jarring due to how long it has been. I'm thinking about them pretty often, and trying to find a time to visit asap. I'm also trying to find a balance between having like no confidence, being too self-centered in conversation, and being open and frank about myself, lol.
I've been eternally procrastinating making a little howdy post since the comm was made, now seeing the new user influx I want to wait longer lol.
A good friend I used to date back during school days (somewhere in the vicinity of a decade) came back for an event. We have close mutual friends, and have done lots of social events together. They've had a more normal dating life between, while I've been single (and mostly unbothered by it, I think I may have some tendencies after reading that post a while back) since then. I've always thought there was a bit of an undercurrent there that I was basically politely ignoring, thinking I was just dealing with some one-sided hang-ups. Well, we kissed and talked about it, we both weren't really expecting it but we've both got some feelings. The relationship still seems more vague than I like, and they live hours away so there's barriers that make starting something official daunting, but we're trying to prioritize comfort for the both of us. Here's hoping we can make something work, I'm optimistic (though that may just be romance-brain).
Me 10 minutes ago: "The 5 stages of grief are not actually useful."
Me now applying it how I've been reacting to world events in recent history:
(I was typing this out when the mods removed the thread to get at me personally)
Duel between Luigi Mangione and Tetsuya Yamagami over whether Japanese people should have sex or not
This isn't a bicycle handlebar, it's a unicycle handlebar to work your shoulders or something
Ghost of Tsushima is very pretty, I got it during the recent sale. The lethal difficulty is fun, I probably should have started on the an intended difficulty level rather than the gimmick level but I'm afraid to change it.
Played a little bit of Echo Point Nova, a... movement based first person shooter with a (small) open world level design? Highly recommend it, I 100%ed it in 8 hours and go back every now and then. The dev also did Severed Steel, which had some pretty decent post launch support and game types, and the dev seems to be shooting for the stars with additional content.
Trying to 100% achievements for Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen after getting it in DD2, and did it on the Xbox years ago. Trying to kill Death pre max level sure is something. Doing it max level without items is already a pain. Losing interest in continuing, but I gotta see it through eventually.
Got Space Marine II to play with friends eventually, it just seems ok. The defensive quick time events don't seem to be very responsive? I'll have to try it with a controller sometime.
I also played through TMGC about a month ago. There are ONES of US on Hexbear.
I had a lot of fun, though I did do my Fire Emblem thing of getting a few chapters away from the end then taking like a month break. Extremely solid and I continue to love GBA Fire Emblem, but I think I did burn myself out on it for a little while on it. Maybe not burn out, more like scratched the itch?
I like that supports are rewarding.

༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Take my energy, Corgi!
Still sending my energy until next Friday!
I ran a campaign of the Unofficial Elder Scrolls RPG that someone had developed a working module for on it. I liked Foundry, the ability to get plugins easy was pretty helpful and cool. Things like staircase teleporters, pins that can take a player to different scenes, and an almighty calendar. When I tried a in-person Foundry-assisted little campaign this year, I think it worked out well having my tower on a big screen as a player, my cheapo laptop as the GM, and any other devices my players brought.
Unfortunately, self-hosting is too much trouble for myself so I had to go through a service (The Forge) to host. At that point I had to pay for a service anyways, but it was the only way to get a working UESRPG game going.
Not a turn-based JRPG, but Dragon's Dogma 2 I think nailed its steal mechanic. The skill is just a little yoink that can only happen when an enemy is staggered, but gets you an extra drop. The table is slightly different than actual drops, but you aren't getting unique equipment from stealing, and those drops can help with your forging or selling mats for money. Having a Thief in your party with Pilfer/Plunder and the grapple hook that can knock down enemies easy does give you more loot. Certain NPCs can also be stolen from once, but there's near 0 risk or test involved, it's just finding out who has what.
Just woke up from a dream that ended with a mushroom cloud in the distance. I don't really think about it as likely or even think about it at all, but I guess the ol brain wanted to.
Honestly almost all of the response by leadership vs users is temp bans, so I'm thinking actual damages aren't even that bad? But the blood is up so maybe cooling down while whatever behind the scenes stuff gets figured out might be good.
The modlog does kind of suck, and I think some things just aren't logged. While trying to find things to help myself understand the issue further, I came across an unrelated commbanning of someone for a surprising given reason. Then I found that there was no removal messages for the comments that incited the ban, though they were removed. Trying to parse the log itself is frustrating too, as it (and the frontend itself in some cases like viewing user profiles) tends to sort by putting every type of "content" on the list, so I'm seeing stuff from a year ago on the first page unless I limit it to a specific type of mod action, which isn't helpful when I'm trying to gauge the vibes.
Weren't Nazi uniforms a thing in Taiwan?
I quite liked the audiobooks. As long as the author wasn't talking about real places and politics, I thought it was a pretty good read, and I quite liked the introspective bits. Anytime it was about real world politics however, it was very radlib at best.
