If it fits the profile of "fast USB drive" then you could potentially get away with 2 of these (https://frame.work/au/en/products/storage-expansion-card?v=FRACCFBZ02) configured in software raid and boot your OS off the internal nvme. That said, I feel you'd get more mileage with a second hand (and cheap!) micro PC for your paperless instance and save the framework as a laptop
