Of course all the big names, but I really enjoyed Signalis. As someone said below, VERY lib lore writing and targeting of East Germany and the Soviet project and becomes very sus if you read further into it it’s pretty obvious metaphor, nothing fash but definitely not of people who are politically aware. BUT the actual story writing, aesthetic, music, and gameplay is all very unique and wears all of its influences very well (the funniest being the humans called Gestalts and the robots being Replicants). Very excellent game.

Idk if anything came from it, and it obviously doesn’t come close to addressing the damage. There’s absolutely no absolute squirmy way to redeem him as a historical figure in any context like they do with confederates here. Out of my family ik there and the few other Belgians I’ve met it does seem to at least be a deep cultural stain on their conscious, Outside of the emergent explicitly fascist party there. That all said tho, Belgiums government from all my second hand knowledge does seem deeeeeply evil.

It’s a very difficult game to explain thematically. There’s a lot of different readings of it, but primarily the main villain is a deeply misogynistic mentally unstable person while the main characters are in some way victims of abuse or mental issues themselves as well, and the ultimate lesson I think the game is trying to instill is a positive one. HOWEVER the game still has a very bizarre relation with portraying abuse and it’s definitely possible to read its “good” ending as being deeply ironic and is in fact pushing a nihilistic and misogynistic worldview, and frankly Im not too unsure if that reading. Either way, it is genuinely a fascinating read as somebody who doesn’t read VNs a lot, but it genuinely hard to stomach and it’s really hard to decipher what’s supposed to be ironic, what’s just there to sell, and how genuine it’s trying to be.
