Keep your UPS maintained, replace the batteries when they age out, and it will be fine. If your UPS supports automated self-tests, use them.

My employer has UPS units spread all over the region we operate in, and we don't have any issues, despite leaving them mostly unattended for years. I have several in my house and I've never given them a second thought aside from battery replacements.

We're looking at a 3 to 4x increase in price, and while that's not horrible, that's still a lot. We're looking at alternatives, because at the end of the day, those prices are too high. And they're not the only ones raising prices by exorbitant amounts.

I am assuming that it would only dump the root filesystem in your example. Other mounted filesystems like /home or /media, if they're separate filesystems, probably aren't included. You'd have to run a separate dump for each one.

Best option to find out is to try it and see what happens. No better way to learn than by doing.

My mother wouldn't let me take my driver's test without leaning to drive manual. My first car ended up being a manual, which ensured that no one ever borrowed my car.

I'm thankful that my kids fly well, and always have. We flew with them at ~15 months with no issues.

I've always heard the complaints about screaming infants and whatnot...but I've never seen it. Granted, I don't fly too often (and less so more recently), but I've never had the "classic" kid crying through the entire flight. It just doesn't happen as often as people think. I'm sure when it does happen that it's pretty f'n annoying, though.

Wild. I don't live where there are too many bikers, and I see bikes blow through red lights and stop signs frequently. I've had bikes fly past me through intersections while I was stopped at a red light on my bike.

I also haven't gone a day without seeing cars doing dumber shit. Cars are definitely more consistently stupid, but there's plenty to go around for everyone.

Take these ideas with a grain of salt, I live and ride in a relatively small city, so 90% or more of the time I have no cars near me. But that's how I rode in college, when I was in a bigger city.
