I wonder if the steam deck will work for you. Its sacrifice of physical keyboard for portability will probably be the deal breaking issue if I were to guess, but not sure. I've seen plenty of people use them as computers for various field projects not game related. It's cheapest is 350 if you don't need a lot storage on the device and the storage is upgradeable. It's compatible with normal USB c hubs for if you do need a physical keyboard or w/e. There are definitely some hangups that may make it undesirable and from what you described some of them are definitely possible, ie if you want to pull it out in the field and do a lot of typing without setting up a dock and whatnot, it won't work for your needs. But if the fieldwork with it is mostly just start a program and connect a USB data source, and most typing will be somewhere with a desk (home office or w/e) then it may work.

I was personally looking for a Linux compatible laptop a while back (admittedly I asked the wrong community), and eventually came to the conclusion that my wife's steam deck was actually a great solution for my needs, the main times I needed a keyboard I could just setup a simple dock and plug one it (though if you get a USBC or Bluetooth keyboard the only use for the dock is for holding it upright or additional peripherals), and most of my on the go use of it doesn't need a lot of typing.

Considering 1 million is arguably an insufficient amount to retire on, I'm honestly sad that number isn't higher. Retirement is just not something some people are even considering anymore.

As written in the spell description of dispel magic, a 3rd level dispel magic also can dispel a 9th level spell with only a check, that didn't stop them from writing some things that explicitly stated that dispel only works for that effect if cast at 9th level.

I think its more the first line of defense, they are not there to kill, they are there to basically state I don't want you here without provoking a lethal response from whoever is encroaching on them. It causes a lot less death of their males since they are known that they are not a threat, reducing the overall attrition of them over time and making life easier on the hive. The females with the stingers come out if something is a real threat, ie something messes with the hive or queen.

Honestly, kinda reminds me of British (and other non-militarized) police. Don't send guns to every problem as most can be solved without it and some are made worse by their presence.

First you would need to sell Americans on public transportation in general, which is a far bigger issue

I've played 2 campaigns that went from 1 to 20, both became a chore late game just trying to keep track of all the items and threads. IMO, a game should stay bound to 2 tiers at most (the tiers being 1-4, 5-10, 11-16, and 17-20), going from peasant to world ender is just too much baggage. Maybe 3 tiers if you do want a complex and difficult to manage, but still possible to manage end game.

Extra credit here being that you are a shit load more likely to actually complete the story you want to tell

Wish is an easy one, since it can be used to cast most of the other spells talked about here

Clone, immortality without any of the normal downsides (I can choose to die still and don't need souls or any bs like that)

Identify and go pawn shop hunting and the like

Really most divination spells would be solid for stock market manipulation

Enchantment spells for manipulating the corporate ladder, or getting into politics or something (mass suggestion in the really any political nexus, geus for more targeted things, modify memory, etc).

Healing and revivification spells and sell my services to the elite, bring back the dead, speak to loved ones, etc. Clone works well here too, especially since it has age manipulation.

Honestly, SCP-4971 feels like a great bait and switch warlock hook to use on an experienced player. An oops your the bbeg moment. Either that or a prologue campaign to open in, and a second campaign where the good guys have to gather enough sacrifices in time.

"Oathbreakers" are evil, by definition, "oathbreakers" are not. A oath of conquest paladin that broke their oath for good reasons, would be more suited for a oath of redemption.
