  • I had so much trouble finding a min wage part time job while I was in school. Ultimately ended up working for a place that did inventory for retail chains. Turnover was high cause the hours were inconsistent so they were always hiring, if you showed up to the interview and weren't on drugs right then and there they gave you the job. I think they interviewed anyone who applied. Not sure if that's slowed down cause it was precovid.

Places like grocery stores and shit never gave me a call back. Even on positions they listed as open for months.

I'd say also apply to stuff you aren't 100% qualified for. The job that got me the work experience to land my current gig I only met like 50% of the requirements and they hired me anyway. Turned out the job listing and the companys internal recruiter were wrong about what the job was. The people they brought on after me definitely didn't meet any of those qualifications but still got hired and could do the job just fine. If they're desperate to get people most of those qualifications suddenly don't matter.

  • It looks like they have 40ish open tickets for their 3 person team, half of them nobody has picked up.

Usually they'll pick up my ticket same or next day and then sit on it until my boss starts to bother them or their boss about it and then suddenly all our open tickets with them get closed in half an hour.

I think it's a mix of bad process and them also just dragging their feet constantly.

There's an open ticket with a due date in 2023 lmao

  • What kinda work are you applying to?

I just exaggerated experience I had, if I did something once at work and thought it would be useful it went on resume, if I get asked about it in an interview I just say it was something I helped out with occasionally but wasn't part of my normal responsibilities.

I also included some stuff I did in my spare time so that I could work in some keywords even though it isn't something I'd get to touch at work. That's a lot easier to get away with in IT and may not apply to you though.

  • Grats on your diagnosis! Meds aren't a magic bullet that solve all your problems but they help a hell of a lot.

Don't get discouraged if you have a bad time with the first medication you try. My psych had me trial three different stimulants for a week each, one of them gave me chest pains even on a very low dose and didn't provide any benefits but the other two were very effective for me with much more manageable side effects.

You can also stop and start typical ADHD meds as you need them. Taking days off when you don't need them can also help with not building up a tolerance. It's not like depression meds where you need to take them for a while everyday to see if they work for you.

It can also go the other way though, you might experience a euphoria when you start meds, that's not something that will stick around long term so enjoy it while it's there but understand that that feeling isn't going to be your new baseline with meds long-term.

  • The most sure fire way is if they have nice looking curly hair they probably know what they're doing.

If they advertise that they do curly or textured hair that's a good sign, though they might mean super curly hair (like could grow out an afro kinda curly) and might not have experience with looser curls if you're more like a 3a instead of a 4c

If you find someone who has good reviews you could probably just snap a photo of your hair and shoot them a message
