How many large, active communities do we really host? Have any of their mods chimed in?
If you're a mobile user Connect, Sync, and probably others have already added this.
ppb?
tiddeRverse?
Discussion thread is ongoing as we speak.
There's an active discussion thread at the !agora@sh.itjust.works
This is the process.
There are alternative desktop frontends. Maybe one of those will add it.
While not a subscriber to that community, I'm 99% certain that's merely to enhance the Winnie the Pooh comparisons he notoriously hates.
Yes, upon reflection, them depicting an Asian person as yellow isn't great, but I think the majority will see it just as Pooh.
My biggest issue with them is the big (ha) custom emoji they use. However I've heard they're meant to be smaller and this is a lemmy bug that will soon be fixed. I'm content blocking users/communities at the user level until I personally see more egregious content from them.
Note: I'm basing this off my personal interactions with their users generally in comment sections. I'm not browsing their communities. At most I find them slightly obnoxious but personally that doesn't justify cutting them out of my experience entirely just yet.
Connect too. They were the first in fact iirc

But more seriously, this wasn't a vote for us to have. We hadn't actually defederated from them in the first place. Their instance is one of the few set to whitelist only. Instead of federating with everyone by default and defederating by adding URLs to a blacklist, they exclusively select instances to federate with by their admins manually adding them to their allow list.
So it was their instance that decided to add us to their list of instances they'll interact with. No change was made at sh.itjust.works without local user consultation. If you have concerns with this there is a recent discussion post at the !agora@sh.itjust.works
Thank you, those communities aren't very serious so I didn't even think of that. Users on the lemmygrad screenshot community do seem to be spending too much energy on something they dislike but that's up to them. Better they have a place to contain it. As for the other, I'm still not sure I really understand it, but it doesn't seem like anything worth hating an entire instance over.
ETA: those are communities hosted here though, that's nothing to do with our federation policies. I guess their silence speaks volumes here.
y'all are federated with some dogshit people
Such as?
Do you have a link* to the thread?
You're welcome. Most people were too busy complaining. Sync just added instance browsing and earlier I happened to be curious enough to check hexbear and saw the thread discussing it. Couldn't find it when I went back to look though.
They added us to their whitelist.
I usually avoid ones with images since I'm not good at describing them. If anyone else wants to take a stab at it, please, be my guest.

I'm not happy to learn any of this but thank you for answering my question.
