Guys, I know it looks bad but Operation Citadel is gonna turn things around. The Soviets are caught in a salient! We'll encircle and crush them!
Idk if immediately making a joke about a jew wanting gold is a great look tbh, feels a little icky
Turkey isn't dumb enough to do that shit lol
Oh right, I forgot about the gas export payments in rubles. Exporting grain in rubles is another big step too
That dude was a stupid asshole lmao how do you possibly think uncritical Putin stanning makes someone a great poster
Definitely very rich if they could nationalise it all and extract it all, but selling such a large amount of gold into the world market would reduce the price of gold to an extent that this discovery would be worth a fair amount less
The ruble is on the gold standard, and a big supply increase of gold in the market will drive the price of gold down, hence the ruble becomes less valuable
apparently the US supreme court is gonna allow states to decide the outcomes of elections unilaterally which definitely will accelerate the country and world towards whatever conclusion we've been heading towards. very cool. i do think that the SCOTUS decisions of late have radicalised a lot of people against the American government, god knows if that'll translate into a revolution or anything else that's good though
lol this shit just gets more and more drastic
i wonder what might happen to an economic system which dies if it stops growing when confronted by an absolute, unresolvable energy supply bottleneck. can it be replaced with a new system which won't get us all killed, or does it just collapse and kill us all?
That's correct, the regions which were once part of the USSR use a different gauge to most of the rest of Europe
That sorta sounds like a cope, the Snake island recapture is nothing but a big propaganda win for Ukraine. Western media isn't gonna suddenly start asking why Ukraine won't demine its ports, they're content to keep pretending like Russia is deliberately starving their MENA allies.
It'd hurt China a lot to get sanctioned like that bc the west is by far the biggest consumer market and their economy rn is centred on exporting consumer goods, but it'd hurt the west to the degree of absolute societal collapse whereas China would just lose most of their customers but they'd still have a massive industrial base
There were at least 1000 (and up to 2000) Ukrainian troops in Zolote area up to at least the days before the full encirclement according to reputable sources, and no reports of a major withdrawal from there by those forces before the encirclement closed in on them. Some may have gotten out in the chaos but there isn't really any reason to believe most did. It was a heavily entrenched zone of the front where the soldiers dug in for months but eventually got outmaneuvered and surrendered, not really an unlikely scenario.
It turns out that Europe has only planned to replace two thirds of Russian gas by the end of the year.
RIP the Ruhr industrial region, early 19th century - 2022
Lysychans'k is on the brink of falling?! Not to worry. Steiner's counter attack towards Kherson will surely rout the enemy.
catabolic collapse go brrrr
Yup, and fossil fuel refining industry takes literally decades to develop to the level required to replace Russia. Plus, ultimately Russia's oil and gas fields are some of the largest and most energetically profitable (in terms of ratio of energy expended to extract:energy gained by using fuel) remaining on Earth. Venezuela and Canada have enormous reserves but they can't replace Russia one-for-one because it would be far less energetically profitable to extract those reserves. This is the same reason that fracking never took off, you can't turn a natural profit doing it.
Now we're in a situation where the west just can't get its hands on enough energy (coal can fill some of the demand), and that's a civilisation ruiner in the long term.
Yeah, but there are no new markets to expand into now that the whole world is thoroughly divided up into spheres of influence. Thus we have a huge profitability crisis and resultant conflict between the two major blocs on the planet, with western capital demanding escalation against Russia, China, and Iran to try and force open those markets to fuller exploitation, and smash their national bourgeois classes who compete with the western bourgeoisie.
