Here is September 10th's update!
A few improvements:
-
I'm gonna try and include more images, now that I've figured out how to do it on my end without things getting confusing. Namely, I now have a whole folder on my computer dedicated to this stuff where I can put things. A truly incredible development. However, a lot of the articles don't have images, and if they do, they aren't all that noteworthy - think "typical stock image of an oil barrel or a dude looking frazzled at a stock market screen". But still, there's usually at least 1 or 2 images that I can and should put in every day for added pizazz.
-
I'm actually using the tagging system, instead of it just being "ukraine" and "russia" the whole time, and will be slowly working on adding them for the previous updates too. Eventually, you will be able to search by country throughout the whole update list, from the ever-present "china" or "united states" to the very rare "uzbekistan".
-
More consistent climate and space updates. Hopefully.
-
100% more love for our trans comrades.

Adding what you people post in these megathreads to the summaries too. The tyranny of only referring to my own work without talking about anything of the comments you guys make shall end.
On that note: do you have a lot of knowledge about the current state of a particular country (beyond mindless electorialism)? Do you, for some reason, have a lot of knowledge about hydrogen power, or the fossil fuel industry, or renewables, or rare earth mining, or have you delved into a wikipedia rabbithole on a topic and became a semi-expert? Hell, are you an actual expert? If the answer to any of the above is yes, please comment more! There are like 200 countries on this planet and I realistically only have time to talk about a fraction of them on a given day, and of that fraction, only a single article. I may have a vibe about certain countries, but if you wanna rant about the current situation in X country or how neoliberalism is ruining Y country, but you think "nah, who gives a shit" - I give a shit. Some of the best content in these megathreads is people being like "The general media narrative around what's happening in this country is wrong, here's what's actually going on here."
I'll even quote your username in the summaries if you do it. It's a meritocratic version of the general megathread's username list that they do every time. The thrill of a purple number next to the bell in the upper right corner of your screen can be yours for the low low price of a microessay for our reading pleasure.

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists, for the "buh Zeleski is a jew?!?!" people.

Add to the above list if you can, thank you.
Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins
Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map, who is an independent youtuber with a mostly neutral viewpoint.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict and, unlike most western analysts, has some degree of understanding on how war works. He is a reactionary, however.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.
Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Last week's discussion post.
I never posted anything pro NATO. But this forum has drifted towards uncritical believe in any pro Russian piece of information you can think of mostly because they really want to believe that a multipolar world (of capitalist powers) is somehow better than a capitalist hegemon. I argue to stick to the few hard facts we have instead of relying on Russian or western propaganda.
But claiming that Ukraine loses 10men for every Russian while also Russia has not made any important advances in 3month is ridiculous. There is no reality were this could possibly be true. The frontline would collapse almost immediatelly. Yet for Ritter this isn't even just a Russian claim it's a fact.
Ok natoid, like I said
Fellas, is having a world where America isn't free to do literally anything it wants to do, up to and including the genocide of millions of people throughout the developing world for either made-up reasons or literally just "they disagreed with us" like in Libya and Chile, without even the vaguest repercussions, exactly the same as having a world where westoids are told to fuck off and China and Russia encourages and invests in the development of developing countries while the former also pioneers renewable research and technology?
“Both sides” posting about NATO vs. literally anyone else is such an anglo move

Also, Ukraine’s tactics have been human waves with poorly trained reservists against superior artillery and airforce. How would this not result in something like a 10:1 loss ratio?
This user has Call of Duty brain and thinks that higher KDA = win the war automatically. Given the configuration of the war and the numerical superiority and technological inferiority of the Ukrainians the numbers make sense given that Russia seems content to drag this out as an artillery grind.
Except Russia has seized the territories they wanted to seize at the outset? What "territorial gains" do you expect them to make unless you're operating under the belief that they want to annex the entirety of Ukraine? And the "hard fact" of Ukraine barring exit to first essentially all men and now all military age women doesn't lend itself to believing that they are taking significant casualties? The fact that they're on the offense against Russian artillery and missiles doesn't make a 10:1 ratio believable?
More importantly, what "hard facts" lmao. I hate to break it to you but there's almost no such thing, you're getting propaganda from somewhere no matter what the source is. Theres no Objective Just The Facts News.
I used to be firmly believe Ukraine'd roll over but clearly that's not the case. The more serious Russian analyists are also wondering what the fuck Russia's doing at the moment. Call me a NAToid all you want, or a lib, but I don't even think the push for Kiev was a feint anymore.

Literally nobody here has seriously expressed that Russia is socialist. The absolute most you can say about them is that they are, selfishly or otherwise, against western imperial hegemony and are a little more willing to use government intervention in their economy (and obviously, socialism isn't even "when gubmit do thing"). The point is that the downfall of western hegemony may provide opportunities for developing and socialist nations to free themselves of their shackles, and so we critically support Russia's efforts in that regard.
Opinions on Russian military strength are whatever; if you're a natoid you're constantly thumbing your nose at Russia's military and being like "haha, what idiots, tanks getting towed by tractors!!!" while simultaneously crying and pissing your pants and sending another hundred thousand troops to eastern Europe in pure terror, AKA the usual fascist contradiction of your enemy being too strong and too weak. If you're pro-Russian you might have a more nuanced take (or even the opposite if you're unabashedly pro-Putin, which none of us are).
Libs have arrived
