If you didnt say this, I would have. The comment above yours is such a lib sentiment, reminiscent of the blue MAGA crowd who cheer on natural disasters in red states. Like the rest of Amerika, Florida was built by slave labor and hyper exploited wage labor, and many of the descendants of those slaves are still living there, caught in the cycle of poverty, serving treats to tourists and PMC/bourgeois residents.
I lived there from birth until I got a degree and took a job in the Midwest. It is hell. Everyone I knew as a kid wanted to get the hell out of there. There’s no way for us to “outvote” the conservatives because they’re flies to Florida’s honey. Wages are shit, cost of living is high, sex pests run rampant, and it is unbearably hot. And for most, moving is near impossible, as they must focus on surviving paycheck to paycheck.
We should really be more understanding on hexbear. Floridians hate meatball Ron, it’s just harder to vote when you’re in poverty.
Sorry my last comment was directed toward the other person, I also wanted to address you. You mentioned cost of living. Cost of living in the Midwest is a lot lower than in Florida (even cities like Minneapolis, Louisville, and St Louis are less expensive than many places in rural Florida) AND wages are higher! With my degree I would be making $20/hr max in Florida, but in a small Midwest city (population <200k) I make $30/hr
