  • I think you're confused by the purpose of that statement. When the authors say not to use it for anything important, they're basically trying to waive liability (informally). It's kind of like how every open source license has a statement like:

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED ...

If you use an open source project for air traffic control software, and a bug causes a bunch of people to die, that's your fault, not the author of the software. The CLIP people are essentially saying that you shouldn't use their software to build something that requires a lot of accuracy since it probably wasn't designed to be as accurate as you need it to be.

But what I'm wondering is why you're being so dramatic about this. You're claiming that it's highly dangerous/reckless/risky to use it, yet hand waving over the why.

  • Is there more to this than just a reddit screenshot posted on what’s clearly a clickbait shithole of a website?

I remember seeing the video of the play button, and kind of expected the guy to get a lot of hate. It resulting in harassment and suicide wouldn’t surprise me considering how Youtube people are. However, I’m not going to accept such a wild story without some credible evidence, especially since this is also the type of hoax internet losers would make up for clout.

  • Damn this is eye opening for me. LTT was always my most trusted source for tech reviews. I noticed that they’d make little mistakes every once in a while, but didn’t realize it was part of a larger problem. I actually made a Ryzen 9 7900 buying decision recently because of this video which made it seem like the best value (especially compared to their very confusing 7950x3d review). After watching this GN video though, I feel stupid for not even thinking to check other channels before making a buying decision.

(Although honestly this is a major upgrade over my previous hardware, so even if it wasn’t the best possible option, it’s still a net positive for me.)

I really hope LTT takes this criticism seriously. It’s always gratifying to see misbehavior have consequences on the internet, but these independent reviewers are pretty much the only people on our side as consumers. I’d rather see a course correction than a crash, especially since LMG in particular has a uniquely powerful position and can have real impacts on manufacturers that benefit consumers.

He is a character who is not connected to the main conflict in the story in any way, and is meant to show that the world of middle earth is much larger and more mysterious than what the hobbits/men/elves/orcs are fighting over. His back story was left as a mystery on purpose. The simplest explanation to accept is that you’re just not supposed to know.

There is a whole lot of fan theory and actual letters from Tolkien himself explaining (or rather not explaining) the character.

Can anyone here up to date on their Overwatch lore explain what that means? I’m not being snarky about the game being bad, I just haven’t played it and genuinely curious what they mean by that. From my understanding, the game is about killing each other lol
