  • Halo is my example here of a game with one ‘good’ difficulty and a bunch of bad ones, because Legendary with difficulty skulls is a mode that only exists for people who play too much Halo, so Heroic seems like intended way to play.

I'd like to give 'em some credit for skulls, too, though. For my partner, normal ends up a little too on the easy side for us both while heroic is a bit too much on the difficult side for her. Throwing a couple skulls onto normal difficulty gave us a pretty good middle ground for co-op. Plus, Grunt Birthday Party puts a smile on my face every time.

perhaps not everything can be tied neatly to capitalism at all. perhaps people enjoy an adrenaline rush in a safe, controlled environment like a movie theater - and laugh the rush off in the same way one does after riding a roller coaster.

  • Yeah, that's definitely it. 80% of UFO footage (or really any strange phenomena of that sort) I've seen comes from Latin America - so I'm going to say Latin America being nearly pitch black on this map is evidence of less-than-sufficient research, rather than evidence that there's nothing in the skies.

Plus, different understandings lead to different conclusions. One sci-fi nerd's flying saucer is a Catholic's angel. We see what we expect to see, and report it as such - muddying the waters for research even further than if it was just the language barrier.

  • Dissociative Identity Disorder (split personalities) also seems to be an entirely American phenomenon.

The idea that Dissociative Identity Disorder is unique to the USA, the west, or developed countries is outdated. People with DID are found at similar rates throughout the globe. However, the presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders is influenced by society and culture - one person's demonic possession is another's split personality.

  • I think they're pretty bad for the opposite reason, tbh. It's really lame that in an update (allegedly) about self-expression and representation, there's very little done to actually enable self-expression. Minecraft already had skins, and you could already change them to whatever you want for free (at least on PC). Where are the tails? The animal ears? Different body types aside from the standard and skinny? Heck, a proper in-game avatar would've gone a long way.

It's a low-effort addition to an already barebones update.
