It's really going to make their brains explode if they ever find out that Chinese people from, say... Yunnan and Heilongjiang can look quite different and still identify as Han.

There are some very racist memes around that show a collection of white people labelled with various nationalities, stuff like Irish, Italian, German, etc and depicted with cultural icons or stereotypes of each one, then show a collection of black people with absolutely no differences between them.

Nah they only do that with Russia on /r/imaginarymaps. The China balkanizers are way less ambitious - usually just like "East Turkestan", Tibet, Hong Kong, Taiwan, ROC, and then like Yunnan cause they play HOI4 lol. They only know what media spoonfeeds them, unlike the anti-Russia map makers who go through a little more effort to create their unhinged creations.

China has all of these things tho, its just like most of their visible population is han and the minorities live where you'd expect them on the fringes of the country because they share borders with other countries.
