So, back in reality, yes, the US use of nuclear weapons ~80 years ago was not a good or moral decision. If you want to criticize people who have discussed using them since then, it sure as fuck isn’t “libs”.

Okay, could you explain to me what this bizarre and clueless meme says? “Libs” want to massacre everyone living in several major countries, but will also cause them to attack everyone with nuclear weapons? Why and how could anyone take this seriously?
Ah yes, for a very honest interpretation of international events I often turn to Putin’s statements.
That’s fine. I’m not a huge fan of US foreign policy. What I question is the endless “Russia and China are fantastic but you know who is really bad?? Definitely the United States” theme I’ve been seeing.
But you didn’t actually respond to anything I asserted, so…
Yes, of course. Rather than respond reasonably, threaten to mock me on some sort of circlejerk.
That's actually US policy and what I questioned. US POlicy is “If you nuke us we’ll nuke you back”. Show me where US has proposed first strike nuclear attack other than 80 years ago. And yes, the strike on Japan was immoral and unnecessary, but it's not like Japan was being super cool either.
Yes, of course, 10-12 different countries don't have nuclear weapons and the Russians of course do not have nuclear armed submarines and dead-man hands ready to retaliate. Only the BAD United States.
This isn't a strictly factual issue for which a citation can be provided. Also, it's fairly clear that in this environment, any citation I provided would be shot down and questioned. That's my personal interpretation of political behavior and you are obviously free to disagree.
Nope, that's not what they said. Obviously people here are not discussing anything in good faith, so it's fairly useless, but Russian state media said if NATO interfered with their illegal and immoral massacre in Ukraine, they just might have to use nuclear weapons. Show me where the US said that.
yes, of course, someone else's graphic! that was very well thought out and persuasive.
yes, comments with "lmao" are often very well reasoned and thought provoking. Thanks.
Yes, 79 years ago. No US politician has proposed attacking anyone with nuclear weapons since maybe the 50s. So... who has? Hmm, Russia. maybe we could discuss that.
That’s fine, but I’d note that 10-12 other countries are ready at all times to retaliate with nuclear weapons, so not sure why you singled out the US. The US has not championed offensive use of nuclear weapons since maybe 70 years ago. The only countries that have lately are Pakistan, India, NK and Russia.
Human behavior in groups is remarkably similar to other interpersonal interactions. I’m not embarrassed if something who agrees with this absurd post thinks something silly about me. Amazingly, political interactions are conducted by people.
Nobody has proposed invading or nuking North Korea, Russia or China as far as I know. The only people threatening nuclear attacks recently is Russia. "OMG look what you made me do" is classic abuser/narcissistic bullshit.
My parents dog is like this. I'm used to dogs insanely eating anything available like they're starving. (oh... this whole community is about this). She acts like she thinks she'll be scolded for eating or something... no idea why.
I get this all the time in the browser mobile interface, on different instances. Often I click on a link, go back, and am signed out. It can happen multiple times a day. Oddly sometimes voting still works, but the UI shows me as signed out and functions like I am.
The issue there were protesting is interesting, too. There was a protest in Albuquerque about basically the same issue which 'turned violent' also... guess by what sort of people. The issue is a statue of Juan de Oñate, who was basically a violent primitive scumbag who subjugated this area for Spain and ordered the massacre and mutilation of hundreds or thousands of Pueblo people. So, someone decided it would be great to put a statue of this guy directly in San Juan Pueblo (now once again known as Ohkay Owingeh). A few years back, someone cut off the statues right foot, symbolizing the very wise (aka revolting and incredibly abusive) punishment he meted out to hundreds of Pueblo people as punishment for the revolt of 1680.
So, the government figured out maybe they shouldn't have this statue up, and took it down in mid 2020. Now someone decided "oh hey, let's put it up in Española", Española being the small town south of Ohkay Owingeh, just north of Santa Fe, NM. So, people are protesting that, since Oñate was some violent scumbag and not really someone who needs to be honored or remembered. Of course, the predictable people say "this is MY heritage!" as if they actually care about colonial Spain.
The meme is so off base and bizarre that I’m not sure what you think we should be discussing. US liberals have fought for broad nuclear disarmament. Maybe you confused them with conservatives?
