  • The point is trying to gauge intent from a downvote is an extremely stupid and completely ridiculous way to go about moderating a forum. Maybe I downvote a thread because I dont feel like it was in the right subforum. Maybe I downvote because in my opinion it was low effort. Maybe I downvote because I disagree with the general theme of the thread and dont feel like engaging with it. Maybe I downvote simply because I dont like the person who made the thread and was in a bad mood.

Moderators retroactively deciding downvotes are now an indicator of some sort of hateful ideology is absolutely asinine.

  • I personally love it when there is a new update to the rules and even after writing 5 paragraphs the rules are less clear than before.

Dont be transphobic (like 4 people decide what that means) Dont randomly downvote trans-positive things (we wont tell you what that means) Stop being reactionary (wont explain how this is reactionary)

As someone who is part of the LGBT community I struggle to understand how instigating a struggle session over trans stuff every other week is helping to make this place a more welcoming forum for trans people. If someone doesnt want to see trans-related threads constantly on their leftist board they should be allowed to downvote them and instead of whining about it and banning people for it the admins of the site consider adding basic functionality to their website that actually allows users to only see threads they care about like every other website in existence. Even as someone explicitly pro-trans I get sick of seeing random shitposts about trans issues that are almost always complete fluff.

  • Yes downvotes - no other metric specified.

Does downvoting a generic "this video game is transphobic" or "this video is transphobic" thread that is constantly on the front page constitute a banworthy offence? Nobody knows, because nobody knows what constitutes a "trans-positive" comment or why you arent allowed to disagree with them without being transphobic.

Downvote datamining is extremely fucking weird and off-putting, and this is coming from someone who rarely votes at all.

  • Difficult as I am from small town Canada and there arent really any schools that have closed down around here. The types of jobs I am looking at applying for are entirely entry level and not skill dependent at all so I wonder how likely they are to check regardless of if it is even possible or not.

The most annoying part is I would 100% get my GED first if they actually offered any testing right now but for the entire year the testing centers have been closed. I basically have no option but to lie about it.

In 1944 the manuscript was almost lost when a German V-1 flying bomb destroyed his London home. Orwell spent hours sifting through the rubble to find the pages intact.

Ahh, my anti-Stalin work! Damn nazis!

  • I'm not in any danger of losing my support system right now, I just finally crave independence and have some small bit of hope for my future.

I'm kind of worried I might mentally check out if the job is too cancer though so I'm looking to avoid working cash registers, restaurants, fast food, anything where I must talk with random boomers constantly. The dream is maybe like stacking at a grocery store or a bestbuy or something.

  • How the FUCK do you get into the job market as a person well beyond typical first job age.

When they ask me why I havent had a job do I tell them how I've been a terminally unmotivated and depressed degen for the last like 8 years but I'm like totally fixed now or what. Like yes, bitch, I'm all hopped up on lexapro and ready to work until I'm 90.

Unsure if the "longer you wait to get a job the harder it will be to start" is a job thing or a depression thing or both.

It seems extremely unlikely that I'd be able to come up with a satisfactory lie about almost a decade of life, but it also seems extremely unlikely that I will get hired anywhere not completely cancer with zero work history at my age.

Pretty crazy how absolutely dire the situation was in basically every single instance of communist revolution.

Lenin could have been executed probably 4 different times. Fidel probably should have been executed once he was arrested, then his revolution was almost repelled immediately upon starting. Mao before/during/after the long march. Ho Chi Minh fighting both the french and the Americans at the same time and somehow winning.

The fact any of these succeeded - much less became what they are, is absolutely incredible.

Second this. Play a game on historical mode (literally just a checkbox when you start a new game) and follow along. Figure out how to set up frontlines, do attack orders, etc.

It will take you a good several games before you really figure out how to use everything at your disposal. Dont worry about winning or losing the war and just focus on doing the best you can. There are a bazillion mods that make hoi4 endlessly replayable but none of them are going to be fun until you get the basics down.

Naval shit is generally super annoying so I'd recommend just focusing on ground forces and air.

  • It is just funny to me that he points to like 4 different examples where he left out context critical to understanding the point and then defends it as a time constraint as if it wouldnt take 3 seconds to use the words "false flag". All of which just happen to be context that without makes the Vietnamese look worse.

Also extreme cringe at equivocating innocent people being burned alive via napalm and how the napalming pilots were treated after being captured. Like actually fuck yourself.

    Personality

Bukharin's widow, Anna Larina, described Sten as "an independent-minded party man who always looked down on Stalin from a position of superior intellect" adding "There was something majestic in the proud bearing of this Latvian with his expressive, intelligent face, Socratic brow, and shock of white hair."[7]

christ, no wonder this guy was executed
