Burner phone to anything that requires communication. Erase metadata of anything that will be shared and uploaded online.
This will backfire independently of the political or security justifications. Many Chinese scientists were put under surveillance, stripped off their academic positions and faced deportation during Red Scare, and this directly contributed to China's nuclear and space program.
I suspect something involving law enforcement or legal. Still would love if LW admins updated on this.
Sigh. At least the benefits of federation include being free to move into other instances while LW can pull stuff like this (probably because they get the heat from being the largest instance).
Man, I didn't expect it to be so high, especially the Github part.
If we're not careful there will be a new generation of users who have no concept of "apps" at all, and will conflate sideloading (or anything 'not authorized') with an illegal process.
I assume you're just getting into Linux? Avoid Chromebooks for this (running linux as beginner) - there are ways of running Linux, but they require some tricks dpending on the model.
Use a dumbphone for calls and an Android phone with prepaid sim for stupid apps that modern life demands. They stay frozen most of the time (Insular). I also used to run degoogled LineageOs, but very often bank apps and anything involved with finance would bitch about it and refuse to function, so I had no other option but stock firmwares.
It's never been recommended and it never was a good idea.
Catering to the corporate is how Microsoft gets their future customers. Office workers learn to function in MS ecosystem to pay the bills. When they are home, they dont want to struggle to make things work - they already know windows and office, so that will be the path of least resistance.
Emphasis on "in some cases, these unauthorized copies are the only record of a given play". This already happened with radio/television, and will happen with all sort of digital media as future historians scramble to study the late 20th century and early 21st century's internet culture.
Bingo. We live in the smartphone era where the average user cannot differentiate between facebook (the app) and internet (the web).
A practical advise. A lot of websites refuse to open on Librewolf because of an OSCP related error, a lot. You can disable that in config if you don't want to scratch your head every time.
It's a long shot, but does anyone know if CJK languages (not romanizations) are supported in any of these?
This almost sounds like a 5D chess move to promote using alternative instances instead of the main demo. I'm thinking of selfhosting one for my friends group.
Requiring an acc is understandable but making it Meta/MS and not even something like openID really kills the vibe.
I haven't had them in the first place, but were considering a Netflix subscription years ago. Had I purchased a sub, I'd probably kept it until now. On other streaming services... I'd probably have pirated the shows outside Netflix, if I had an urge to watch them.
I'm wary of paying for more than two companies for one single service I seldom use.
I hear you bro. It's maddening how I have to submit legal documents through fucking whatsapp of all places. I'd ask if I can email them instead, or even better, hand them personally to avoid all the techy bs. They'll look at me like a caveman appeared from the mountains, and tell me "But you're applying for an IT job! Don't tell me you don't use smartphones!".
Sure, ma'am. Sucking zucc's dick means being a developer, wow.
It's called thinking freedom of speech means freedom to be a fucking asshole.
I've found that being consistent with what you choose to share is the most difficult thing. Conversations can get personal, and as you get closer to those random nicknames there's the constant urge to share mundane stuff about your daily lives like weather, holidays, and such that will all add up.
