I (intermittently) fast so I can gorge on carbs without risking diabetes. It's a pretty cool superpower being able to eat decadent desserts every day and not wreck your insulin sensitivity.
There's nothing quite like breaking a 12 hr fast with a pint of Guinness and a line (nose beer) which you've convinced yourself counts as food, moving to vodka neat for the next ??? hours, having a quick 5 hr nap and then back in line (cooking) for Sunday brunch.
Ignore the bourgeois beauty standards
Fast not for thinness or weight loss.
Fast for the lowered alcohol tolerance so you can get drunk quicker thus saving money.
