    1. Come up with a cruel and annoying rule to harass a very small number of trans people.
    2. Oh no, it turns out it actually effects a much larger number of cis people who also [use nicknames/don't fall into neat gender norms/etc].
    3. Just keep annoying everyone forever and feel righteous for doing so.

      I imagine it’s going to be selectively enforced is the thing. As things worsen, only particular types of school employees will stick around, and I doubt they’ll be as gung-ho about harassing more “acceptable” types of people.

        That's true, cis kids will likely get away with just using nicknames as usual, especially if they're just shortening their given names.
