Seriously, though, I know elder abuse and outright abandonment are huge, huge problems but there has to be some humane and dignified way of helping people die before they get to this state. I'm terrified of ending up in some state of permanent cognitive impairment where I'm too broken to function but still cognizant to realize what's happened to me.
