Its like Hillary walking into a working class kitchen for the first time.

They've been shielded from even critical support of China and other AES for so long they literally, not figuratively, literally cannot process that people exist that have beliefs that aren't Reddit Approved. They immediately assume it's bots or wumao. Human beings can't possibly hold these beliefs, so they must be Oriental hordes or actual robots.

my grandma, a woman who I ordinarily respect, who literally marched in civil rights protests, and had rocks thrown at her by klansmen, who was gay and in interracial relationships back when it could get you physically assaulted in public, once had the ignorant audacity to say in front of me "those people literally think Kim Jong Il kim-jong-il is a god." I simply laughed and said "Grandma, these are the same people who told you Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Come on, now."

I've seen most of these myself, repeatedly. This is missing some gems like "State propaganda states that the Kims do not shit due to their highly-developed biology" and a handful of others. Probably the biggest missing one relative to popularity is that the Kims are in some manner literally divine and the subject of literal worship, especially Kim Il-Sung, as though his honorary memorial as "Eternal Leader" is actually some Jade Emperor shit about him ruling from Heaven (though they never actually explain it)

I haven't seen the meth story, which to me is the most stand-out one because I can imagine it but I've done a bit of research on the topic of DPRK myths and must have missed it. No, actually I remember it now, but it was mostly in the context of meth trafficking and not the state of the population.
