    The tent is very wide, as long as they know how to behave. No bigotry of course, but if a socdem or a "progressive" showed up we would probably keep it as a pet.

      No one likes to admit it, but I would dare say a large chunk of this site were once Bernie fans and went left after he ran and got derailed by the Dems. So, socdems aren't treated too terribly (assuming they're willing to listen) I think in part because a lot of us remember when we were at that stage. Also, it's also always good to jump on an opportunity to push someone left.

        I think you're right but people don't seem to have a problem admitting they're relatively recent converts. There was a busy post in the news mega that included people they were basically socdems without a serious criticism of NATO as recently as the start of the Ukraine war.

        But there's also plenty of us old heads too, for whom the likes of Bernie or Corbyn or other demsoc projects were milquetoast compromises that were worthy of some support because they could have moved the needle left just enough to make a meaningful impact to people's lives, whose leftism goes way way back.
