    there's this black fluid from deep under the earth and it's made of concentrated death, entire dead biospheres, ancient and buried and hidden, and we tap into it. for its power. the black fluid has become the blood of a world-spanning monster that every single one of us serves every day.       When you phrase it this way it really feels like some sort of cosmic spiritual thing going on where we're releasing an ancient curse upon ourselves. Man kind laughs in the face of death by killing it again in a venial sacrifice in which it declares itself as god over nature... Only you be poisoned by blind hubris.
