    These dishonest little shits at the daily beast conflate the results of the Dec 1991 Ukrainian Independence Referendum with "how many people have a Ukrainian national identity". As if that referendum didn't happen in an incredibly tumultuous time in their history, in which circumstances (and a coup or two) had already made the dissolution of the soviet union very much inevitable.

    It's gone back and forth, back and forth again in history. In the past year and a half though, it's completely settled. Ukraine definitely wants to be independent of Russia now.
