I wouldn’t put it past the hexbear crazies throwing a tantrum. They claim to be left wing… Sure seem more like fascist trumper types though. Maybe it’s just that they’re all incels and incels all seem about the same.

We have Trump emojis therefore we support him.

Almost like CSAM barrages aren't a favorite tactic of straight-up 4channers, most of which couldn't even pretend to be anywhere near the left with any kind of competence; but... Yeah, sure, it's totally just incels false-flagging their ideologies. Fucking liberals.

Imagining thousands of 4channers making a commie site and discussing socialist theory and gender stuff and politics all in character roleplaying as communists for three years in the hope that one day Reddit might collapse so they could troll liberals into thinking they were communists while actually being nazis and then realising that this one Lemmy user has figured them out and going into a panic because the game is up and everyone's gonna realise that they're not actually a radically queer inclusive communist space

The average American's overton window is so frickin narrow that they can't tell left from right. Everything that's not liberal conservative just looks like an extremist to them.

cmv: "extremism" is obscurant terminology designed specifically to equivocate between the left and right.

Why would I want to change your view? You're right

Wanting to continue the neoliberal policies that have immiserated countless people and brought us to the brink of ecological catastrophe is an completely extreme position

Being re-exposed to the thoughts of absolute self-important cranks like this after so long away from reddit is wearing on me faster than I thought.

Even acknowledging Trump's existence without calling him Drumph is an endorsement in their eyes.

As a proud liberal, I must confess that I am utterly unable to mention Trump's name without making a political analogy using the Harry Potter universe afterwards.

If I can't come up with a relevant Harry Potter reference then it's like that time when Voldemort (Trump) destroyed a fragment of his soul (liberal values) residing in Harry (the Whitehouse) and Harry (society) lost his ability to speak Parceltongue (we lost our ability to speak with decorum). Or something.

It’s really striking to me how the climate has shifted online since Biden won. Obviously libs have always been anticommunist, but under Trump I feel like there was at least a vague understanding that the far right is a legitimate threat in the way that the far left is not. Now though, it’s like the the far right has been forgotten, it’s a spectre conjured up only for its utility for slandering the left. I guess this is probably because Trump is viewed as an aberration, and one which was dealt with in 2020 when the system worked and people realised he wasn’t fit to be president. The libs cannot imagine that Trump could be re-elected, nor can they imagine that the issues run much deeper, just as they couldn’t in 2016. So if the far right no longer exists, it’s only natural that they should fall back into their default focus on demonising the left.
