This isn't even accurate. Israel is a major trading partner of China, and if both-sidesing it stops working for whatever reason, China would side with Israel

China is Israel's top trading partner but Israel is waaaaaaaay down the list of China's trading partners, somewhere in the high 20s

I doubt that, because Israel's economy relies on Chinese trade far more than the other way around and siding with Israel in a situation where "both sides" is no longer an option would likely destroy their political relationships with a huge portion of the third world.

The only situation I can think of where "both sides" is no longer an option would be a world war. Siding with Israel would mean siding with Amerikkka, and that option is clearly not possible for China and would be a terrible, self-destructive move even if it was.

Yeah a world war was the case Hasan suggested today where China would side with Israel.

Yea siding with Russia or not entering at all are both infinitely more likely than joining on Israel's side

Hasan has some great takes and has done a great job covering this issue but i wouldnt give to much weight to some geopolitical speculation he made during a stream. This one is easy to prove how unlikely it is. Any world war involving China and the US will see them in opposing sides. Israel will de facto be on the US side. SO China will be on the opposing side of Israel. SImple

I don't think openly siding with Israel is a tenable position for China domestically at this point.

I don't think China would squander the good will it's built up over all of its BRI investments in the global south in exchange for whatever tech products Israel can sell to China. Especially since every year China's technical ability advances relative to Israel's, and access to raw materials (which the global south is rich in) becomes relatively more important than specialized nuggets of Western IP.
