okay true. tbh i thought i was on lemmyworld so i was being a douche thinking yall were going to be some preachy reactionary techie losers.

my real answer is that relationships are extremely accidental, you could be extremely like-minded, and work well together, but not have any romantic spark. this world has been twisted so much that i don't really know if anything 'works' anymore. Just engage with the world in any medium, make friends, and keep going. Maybe something happens.

dating apps like really suck though i don't know how anyone uses them.

I'm not sure that's true. Chronic loneliness is likely a much greater risk to your health than getting a harmful version of covid by going outside and interacting with people.

depends. if your quality of life is already poor due to health issues, long covid could easily result in you never being able to leave your house again

being lonely is awful, but let's not downplay the disease that has killed literally tens of millions of people and crippled countless others

          likely

Edit: also stating that there are things riskier than exposing yourself to covid doesn't minimize it. How many deaths of despair have occurred worldwide over that same period?

i'm gonna go ahead and disagree that loneliness is even likely a "much greater risk to your health" than covid tbh, unless you have some compelling information to share

i'm not really trying to start a fight but i do think making claims like that is downplaying the seriousness of covid emilie-shrug

other than having someone who cares about her, that youtube lady PhysicsGirl has it worse than I do. more mildly, some people in discords have talked about getting fucked up with chronic fatigue.

I may be dying slowly but at least it's slow enough that i don't always notice. not like i have money to do anything regular anyway.

I'm not sure what your point is? I didn't say there is no health risk from covid, I'm just saying there's also a health risk of socially isolating yourself to avoid the potential of exposure to covid. There may not be a "safe" option available.
