The amphibious assault ship was in port in San Diego in July so that it could be upgraded to accommodate the new Marine Corps F-35B jets when a massive fire broke out aboard the vessel in one of the costliest conflagrations in modern Navy history.

      Lmao.

"Admiral, here are the blueprints for our new warship the boys in R&D drew up. It can host a hangar's worth of aircraft and state of the art detection systems including but not limited to radar, lidar and sonar. Should the enemy even get close, there are countermeasures and trophy systems, and the hulls are so reinforced it can withstand half a dozen torpedoes or cannon fire."

"What would happen if a moderate sized fire broke out onboard?"

"Then consider all souls on board lost"

"Oh well, you win some and you lose some, here's a blank cheque courtesy of the American taxpayer, get this thing built"
