Yeah no shit, "brave" is definitely a term I would use to describe the partisans facing certain death to resist fascism all the way to the gallows. Or the Red Army clinging on to Leningrad until the siege was broken. Or taking up arms against Americans with little to no formal military training in the jungles of Vietnam.

Or standing alone against 40,000 Japanese troops sniping them with iron sights and no food in the Manchurian winter
