He got out of any consequences the last time he was arrested for sex crimes in Florida, why would he kill himself this time when his win rate was 1:0 against prosecutors?
I don't remember the specifics because it's been a while and with the documents getting unsealed it's hard to search for older stuff but his lawyers stated after his death he was very optimistic about his chances and even said something to the effect of "see you this weekend" the last time they met. Doesn't necessarily "prove" anything, but then again we can't really "prove" it one way or the other.
He had dirt on powerful people, it seems unlikely that they'd let him go to prison because what if he talked? He just didn't think they'd off him, he thought it was going to be round two of the prosecutor being told "this guy is CIA, you need to let him go"
