Retired engineers moving from fundamental physics crankery to political crankery is an exciting development.

Real question: Is there a name for this sort of thing?

Like, my dad was the kind of guy who would draw these types of diagrams (like in the op) where he saw false symmetries based on nothing. Then he would see them with a profundity that only he really felt, and anyone he showed them would just kind of humor him. They usually were pretty shallow connections that revealed more about his own biases than the world.

It isn't quite the same diagraming I've seen with people I've know with schizophrenia, mainly because it's way less specific. But it shares a vibe.

I see this stuff a bunch. And just wonder if there's a jargon for it.

It seems like some kind of sparkling horseshoe theory maybe, but there's always the special kind of spin depending on the individual crank you're dealing with. I think part of it is these dudes retreading the same square foot of intellectual ground thinking they're all sherlock clouseau finding out what it's all about or some other equally deluded conspiracy theory shit.

Yeah, it's definitely that and navel gazing. But I was just wondering if there's a specific name for when you start breaking out the bullshit charts.

yeah, crank. Inevitably ends you at the timecube, on a long enough timescale
