Look, I just finished repressing the Wheel of Time show doing all this shit. It's very uncool of Hollywood to immediately retread it and put me in a position where I have to face it all again so soon.
Here's hoping Aang at least gets some agency in his own show?
That's fine, there was a lot of great stuff there - as mentioned the casting was really good - it's the same with Altered Carbon and Battle Angel Alita. They managed to make something that was enjoyable, unless you're a particular type who read the source material and can see all the ways they made superfluous or actively inferior choices (though plenty of book readers were still able to enjoy them for what they were, the baarstards).
At least with AC and Alita it seemed to be the understandable error of cramming in cool material they liked from later books because they're afraid of only getting one season, rather than WoT's showrunner having a truly incoherent understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the books and their own ability to correct them.
It's a damn shame, because the cast is the only real redeeming feature of that show, they're all absolutely incredible and it's really upsetting to see them have to deal with just terrible writing
You can see Sanderson, for all his flaws, trying to pull the show back on the rails and only occasionally succeeding. And then every reactionary asshole on earth going "they didn't listen to him and made it woke!" Despite him being about as woke as a devout, traditional member of the Latter Day Saints can be
I did find it very funny that they were pissing and shitting themselves over Moraine and Siuan having sex when it's mentioned multiple times throughout the books that they were "pillow friends" while they were novices at the White tower.

I didn't even try to watch WoT because I heard it was super disappointing.
Idk I liked it. Wasn't the greatest piece of television ever but it was fine. That said I am a TV treat baby rube that doesn't read many books.

The annoying thing about WoT is all the chuds whinging that it was bad because it went "woke"

Insufferable, the lot of them
