It was for some local primary or something, I don't know, 2020 was the last primary I'll ever pay attention to. I'd been getting these texts all month and thought they were mostly automated by now, so in frustration I responded "For the love of god please shut the fuck up".
Well an actual person replied saying they'd take me off their mailing list and now I kinda feel bad because this person was probably just a volunteer with probably good intentions
You did nothing wrong, we are bombarded by these assholes on our own personal devices prior to giving consent. It's possible they might be being paid for it at least too. Both the Democrats and Republicans text me. I also sometimes respond with something like "Fucking STOP!!!" I'm so annoyed with them, it's a daily fucking thing. I don't know why or how to make my number blacklisted everywhere by default.
It really makes me just want to disable sms on my phone, since there are only two stragglers or so that still use sms instead of Signal—ah, you know what, I just decided while writing this that I'll disable sms. Fuck it. I'll just check it periodically when I want or for stupid ass 2FA sms texts when I need for idiotic sites that don't allow me to use Aegis.
