Seems bad.

So is this a christian/orthodox motivated thing? or an anti-western "ideology" thing? Is it possible to find a way to be gay, but with Russian characteristics?

Probably a bit of both tbh. This has been spreading across the global south for some time. Anybody who talks about lgbt or gender-inclusive language will get jokes about being on the US payroll.

The neoliberals have gone all in on pinkwashing and the lgbt community does have a large number of America worshippers that have been involved in anti-government activities. This has only made people more suspicious towards them.

At the same time, right-wingers worship the US just as much with the exception of the nationalists. They’ve always hated lgbt and use the “US agent” angle as a convenient excuse to mistreat them.

The US aping right-wingers repeat the latest American Facebook memes from Matt Walsh while acting like only the gays are influenced entirely by the US.

Of course I’m talking from the perspective of Central America but it seems to be a common thing across other developing nations from what I’ve been hearing.

This is the consequences of rainbow imperialism and pinkwashing. Unfortunately we in the west did not do enough to clearly separate our progressive movements from Liberal cooption and so this is the result. You really hate to see it

Pinkwashing is honestly why I don't claim western OR liberal queers anymore until I know they're actually about that life and actually on go against the state. Skinfolk is not always kinfolk; and I feel the queer community never really internalized that despite the similarity of the struggle with that of Black liberation.

It 10000% is, and it's sad I know so many comrades in my home country fighting everyday for justice, and these fascists, who get their anti-LGBT propaganda from Western media/social media, then accuse the left of being on the payroll of major US corporations.

ROC (its head, of course) and the state do help each other out. One of examples that I can think of (there are more) are the recent-ish films where Christianity is portrayed as saving the day (I want to write about this in detail, some day, the great source for this, Badcomedian's film reviews and adjacent analysis is in Russian language).
