          stab in the dark but i'd figure it's "buck" > "1.00" > "100"

          so another way of saying "keeping it 100 (% honest)"

          Y'know, I like the 'penny for your thoughts' angle, but I think the etymology for that tracks from 'keep it 100' as in 100%. Or, a buck.
