Lol contrarianism is part of the the US' (or anything touched by France vaguely) DNA, this will turn out about as anti-communism as DARE was anti-drug. If I had a mere penny for every tree enthusiast I've ever seen wearing a tie-dye DARE tshirt I'd have at least 3 or 4 dollars, and I'm super rural. I'd have at least 50 cents for bong hitters in DARE shirts. Sure, the kids will be zealous, but as they age, not so.
What they may be thinking pushing this is mere short term gain brownie points with the boomers still deep in red scare brain like its 1951 and boring gusanos, long term the only way I see this even remotely working out is if FL slides into the literal ocean in a very short period of time, or there's some other fast collapse yet the US retains a degree of both hard and soft power. The ploy is like teaching hard core anticommunism to some places in the global south where people are lucky to be educated at all and hold what little education they did have as infallible dogma, hoping to recreate that piece at home in hopes they'll have useful super ultra-reactionaries as shit slides downhill to be good little soldier-slaves that can't dream of a better world.
