yeah there were some radlibs holding Ls on that one not realizing that billy was a historical figure and somehow missing that team fucking ninja are a japanese studio. maybe they were cynically having a white protagonist to sell more copies in the west but i don't get the impression that koei or team ninja think like that, doa 6 doesn't have rollback and you wouldn't launch a fighting game without lobbies and rollback in whatever year that shit was if you're catering to a western audience. A shitload of japaense people in japan love the last samurai and shit because they're not minoritized, so i'm guessing they did billy because they've all seen a billion historical dramas and played other games with japanese protagonists.

using yasuke is 100% cynical corporate bullshit from ubisoft, like it's fucking ubisoft, but yasuke is cool and kool-aid manning people is probably fun and there's two protagonists anyway so the only thing to be mad about here is that it's a ubisoft game and yves continues to escape justice.

They should have the next one in the old west and you play as a chinese guy and be like "we heard you wanted an asian man, well here you go" and then double piss off the racists by accurately depicting the horrible conditions building the railroads.

A Chinese gun slinger in an American West setting gunning down slave drivers and railroad barons sounds great
