I pretend like China has already invented that anti nuke tech from Gundam SEED (yes it's awful as a Gundam series but this single piece of speculative technology used as a flimsy plot device for why they're using giant mecha to fight brings me hope that and and the rest of the west won't be able to annihilate life as we know it)
