I'm dumb, but at this point there should be new rules to be studied for economics.
We seemed to have decoupled "the economy" with general prosperity. The rich are richer than ever, but they're laying off workers left and right because 'we don't need that many', and the wealthy have been super concerned about their finances. Actual hiring is slowed to a crawl, and somehow we are able to not technically be in a recession because we can just say 'no we're not'.
I swear, there is no rhyme nor reason to late stage capitalism, it's economics calvinball.
