I think both Dungeon Meshi and Frieren are good, but if they didn't come out at the same time no one would compare the two. They're doing totally different things. I enjoy Meshi, but I've also enjoyed a number of cooking anime over the years. So I find the whole thing amusing as a cooking anime and am curious to see how it resolves as a decent story.
