Owning a house in an HOA neighborhood is glorified renting.
The HOA is usually backed by real estate companies or in some cases IS the real estate company. You pay a fee, you cant leave without moving, and you can lose your home if you dont comply to their arbitrary rules.

Also some HOA's can reposes your house for outstanding fines or even just unpaid minor fines, petite fascism at it's finest
