Trying to explain to my parents that undead is an umbrella term, encompassing multiple genders such as skeletons and agender ghosts

I think Ash is obsessed with Tactics Ogre, specifically, but I would not be surprised if she eventually catches Ogre Battle and OB64 addictions.
smh Soros stealing valor from you, me and @mechwarrior2@hexbear.net as the resident OB heads
btw that switch game that's like OB hasn't hooked me yet. story is definitely wayyyy dissapointing compared to OB. super gendered and kinda gross too
That's such a bummer about Unicorn Overlord. I'm fortunately still at the point where I can get hyped for a game and buy it about a year or two after release, so I haven't even picked it up yet lol.
I'm not deep enough in yet to say whether it subverts these things but it was for sure disappointing to start. Bought it because I figured switch stuff never goes on sale
13 Sentinels was the right mix of anime slurry for me to probably glaze over some of the problematic stuff, but I distinctly remember a gender nonconforming character being treated relatively respectfully.
If you can tolerate intentionally signing yourself up for advertising emails, there's a site called Deku Deals that price tracks Switch games. Most non-Nintendo developed stuff gets a solid price cut eventually, but yeah - the Nintendo stuff is ridiculous and only gets retailers cutting prices by a few dollars or whatever.
I stare at March of the Black Queen sometimes, I'm about to start Lost Odyssey but OB beckons me. Weird lookin RTS, the sprite art fucks. Saturn or Playstation version?
Also back in the day OB64 had a reputation as the only good N64 game and an absolute legend, so someday I will poke it and I have high expectations.
Oooh, the weird fake Final Fantasy for Xbox 360! I've honestly never played that one - for some weird reason I really fell off Japanese RPGs after the PS2 era.
I guess a lot of people did, too, but it's still strange. I assume other RPG dorks were also delusional and thought Mass Effect were good games back then
ITS NOT FAKE IT HAS HIRONOBU SAKAGUCHI AND NOBUO UEMATSU
Mostly I think studios in Japan had greater trouble adapting to HD development pipelines, Idk why. From 2006 to 2008 though, PS360 JRPGs was like Enchanted Arms -> Blue Dragon -> Lost Odyssey -> Folklore -> Eternal Sonata, lol
I think this was the same era where people like Phil Fish were saying stuff like "Japanese games suck" or whatever. You're onto something, a lot of the Japanese studios weren't quite hitting as hard during that console generation.
I'm like 0/5 on those - bordering on fake weeb status lol. At least I know a well I can dig if I'm wanting to play a bunch of RPGs I've never touched.
Yeah! Idk why, but devs in Japan were more happy to make smaller scope, smaller budget games, not just on big consoles like PS2 but also on handhelds. You still see this today, like the Nintendo Direct was full of smaller weeb games. AAA is reactionary burger thought.
Tbf only like two of those games are certified classics, (Lost Odyssey and Folklore) they are all good but for JRPGs probably digging into the PS1 or Saturn stuff would be as productive.
