What're you into, what're you looking forward to, what're you happy about?

Please

I am feeling terribly self-harmy in advance of my birthday next week

I got to the point of making a pros and cons chart

give me something to be vicariously happy about or something to look forward to, please

I've been getting back into making radio control models which has finally helped me really look forward to doing things. It's the first time I've been able to focus on something and just think without my mind churning. I might've found a model flying club that will accept me (I'm openly and very obviously trans) but even if not I've already found someone who wants to fly with me.

I've also reconnected with someone I knew from high school and I think we might become friends. I'm looking forward to hearing from her more.

But one big event I'm looking forward to is you posting here after your birthday that you made it.

      Care-Comrade

      thank you ❤️❤️❤️

was reading your comment getting more envious by the sentence, then got to that last one and 😭❤️ I am trying very, very hard.

I love what you're doing, and I'm putting it on my internal vision board. I would like to find a local group for one of my hobbies to try to make friends, and reconnecting with someone I used to know might be nice.

What kind of models do you make? You mentioned flying, so airplanes maybe, but is there a particular kind you're super into?

I haven't actually scratch built a model in a long time. Last one was an airplane that was really fun to fly! I challenged myself to build it as light weight as I could so it flew extremely slowly. I could just about walk behind it! It looked kinda like this:

        Show
Except not as light and covered in tissue paper instead of that thin plastic film. These days I've mostly been flying and fixing/modifying rc planes that I bought mostly complete. But they're made of molded foam because it's a very light and low-labor way of making complex shapes. But I really want to make a plane from scratch soon, except instead of foam I want to make it out of wood (mostly balsa since it's super light). I might try to build one that can carry my camera to do more aerial photography!

I've also built an rc car from a kit which I had a lot of fun doing, and I have my eyes on another one I want to build! But I want to start building the plane first cause that's been a long time coming of imagining it.

That model is beautiful! What color paper do you use on yours?

I can't imagine the patience and dexterity it takes to get good at something like that! 🤩 It's crazy impressive.
