Now let me say I'm the biggest hater:

I hate the way they talk about race and the way they obsess about race. I hate that America was founded on racism. I hate their opinions on race mixing.

In the presence of justice we could all be talking about only being proud of things you've done yourself. Or not even being proud and just vibing with the culture instead of thinking about getting the next shiny accomplishment to put on your resume. Then the thing that you're really really good at is just what you like to do the most so you don't even think about the validation of pride, glory, riches, etc. Things you do aren't your only hope of making it out of poverty, so there's a huge edge that's taken off.

But so long as people need to be exploited and subjugated for capital which is exacerbated by people being weird about it doing things is always going to be cringe.

Sorry, I don't know. I was rambling. I just think the person in the OP is being cringe about race. I think people like him are cringe when they talk about race including adjacent topics. I think racism is an entangled and inseparable part of life under capitalism. I think racism makes life worse in ways that aren't immediately obvious. These ways include the things that people take pride in.

I may not be an expert, but I'm not race blind lol. Could you lay down a little wisdom on what it means to be proud of your race, please?

edit: if I've cringed out I apologize. Leaving it up for shaming purposes

marginalized pride is (very broadly speaking) about surviving and building community in the face of systemic adversity. this is why white or straight pride are nonsensical and the sole domain of bigots.

i suppose in a world where racism, queermisia, etc never existed we would not develop pride movements; but race was invented to perform racism so we wouldn't have one without the other.
