    So this is a thing that has happened before and by definition isn’t “defying history”?

    Why are they starting the clock at 1836? Does it sound less impressive to say that 2 sitting Vice Presidents have won an election? For that matter, why don’t they start it at 1988 and say no vice president has been elected in 46 years? Is that also not impressive enough?

      Actually that's pretty on point. Both former cops that failed up into the presidency, edit: succeeding the oldest president ever at the time.

          I mean, Bush Sr presidency saw the most success USA had since WW2, not only the only war they won since WW2 and still counting and they managed to coup and plunder quarter of the world belonging to their most hated enemies. Which ensured their global hegemony for the next over 3 decades.
